[SQL] Reverse function

Sometimes you can stumble across undocumented features in software. Oracle is no different. When reading Tom Kyte’s book Expert Oracle Database Architecture, I found out about the SQL function ‘Reverse’. This does exactly what it’s name implies: it reverses the result of your query.

select reverse(country_name)
from countries

Which produces the following result:

Turn around, every now and then...

Now ain’t that fun?
But remember: undocumented also means unsupported, so results aren’t deetnaraug…. ehm… guaranteed.
